Your dreams of a super-fast 4K workflow have just gotten a little more real. At CES, LaCie debuted their new Little Big Disk Thunderbolt 2, which is one of the few Thunderbolt 2-enabled drives currently on the market. If you're planning on making the jump to 4K this year, you'll be happy to learn that the Little Big Disk can reach speeds up to 1375MB/s. It also features PCIe SSDs, which are both smaller and 2.5x faster than SATA SSDs. This makes the drive perfect for anyone needing fast storage (such as working with 4K, Raw, multiple HD streams, etc). During the CES show, LaCie even demonstrated...

Last week I visited the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which features millions of electronic gadgets that would make any geek smile. I went with purpose though, touring the massive halls looking for new gear and technology that might have an impact on filmmakers. It was tough sifting through all the cellphone accessories and headphone booths, but I think I found some key trends in the mix.

His style is as distinct as those of the famed directors he has formed long-time collaborations with, like Wim Wenders and Jim Jarmusch. His approach to photographing a film begins with understanding its meaning, creating emotional and cerebral connections between the narrative and the visuals, and ultimately, the film and its audience. Cinephilia and Beyond has shared an interview Müller, in which he talks about working on Down By Law, that serves more as a masterclass in cinematography....

This month in Las Vegas at the annual Consumer Electronics Show, Panasonic gave us a taste of what will be its first 4K camera, the 4K GH (or GH4K as it has also been known). They didn't publicly reveal too much about the camera except for the body — which looks very much like a GH3 with a brand new 4K sticker on it. We have learned, however, that the new camera from Panasonic could be announced as early as next week. Click through for more. (more…) ...read more
